Communication was really important throughout the creation of my project because Jay and couple of my fellow co-workers could give tasks throughout the day and give me critique on some of the designs, matrices and other project related creations. This critique really improved my work and helped me go above and beyond when it comes to making a quality final product. Sometimes communicating could be a little difficult mainly because everyone is hard at work and making sure they have their own work done for the day. That being said sometimes it was a little difficult approach people just because I didn't want to disrupt them while they were hard at work but, over time as I got better acquainted with my co-workers the less of an issue that became.
Today I also got to visit a nearby 3-D printing studio called Purple Platypus. The studio had displays of models and tools that they created with 3-D printers. Most of the the 3-D printers I had seen previously were much smaller, the printers they had there were huge! A few of my fellow co workers visited the studio because they were interested in how 3-D printing could benefit there products. All of their production is in China so it's very difficult communicating with the factory all the way on the other side of the globe. Producing the cases at a studio in the Irvine/Santa Ana area would be much more convenient and communication would be much easier. What really interested me though was how the 3-D printers were able to create models of specific peoples hearts for example and use those models to practice surgery's that in the past wouldn't of been possible. In the the next 10-20 years 3-D printing will be essential when preforming surgeries or any operations in general.
