In this project we first watched the movie October Sky, a story of a young man who dreamed of launching rockets. We started launching paper rockets. For most paper rockets were a failure because of the lack of height when launching rockets. Next launch most groups chose water rockets, for some they were a success and for other it failed completely. For our final launch almost everybody launched water rockets, but this time you were given a certain amount of money for materials. Mostly everyone's rockets were a success!
This project we did the same thing last year in 8th grade, so it was very similar. Only I built water rockets for the last two launches. Besides the addition to the money the two projects weren't very different. The first two rockets were a complete failure. The first launch was a failure and our groups 2nd rocket didn't launch. The final launch I did was a complete success even though our group struggled during the process. Our 3rd launch was very satisfying since it was one of the rockets that flew the highest. Reflection: What I learned from failure was when my rocket failed it made it a lot easier to improve and get better because, I knew exactly what parts I needed to improve and I worked really hard at making that better. I like that there were no real guidelines to creating the rocket you could make it whatever you wanted it to look like as longed as it functioned like a real rocket. I didn't like that we had a short period of time to work on our rocket. Instead of only getting a week I think we should of got a longer period of time to really perfect our rockets. One thing I think I did well contributing to the group and doing as much work as I can to help my group. Also trying my best and putting the most effort as possible into my work. One thing I need to work on is knowing when its time to work and when it s time to socialize because during the final launch our group especially me did that a lot. |
